Since there is already a judgment of legal separation, you will have to file for dissolution of marriage and pay the new court fees. The divorce will be a new case that requires new paperwork, however, most issues were probably dealt with in the separation and thus don't need to be readdressed (child support if kids are involved, spousal support, division of community property, etc).

If there has been a filing of a Legal Separation, but the Judgment hasn't been entered yet, you can convert it to a Dissolution of Marriage without filing a new case or incurring new filing fees.
