Why did Geraldine Edwards have her Wikipedia biography taken down and have her name removed from all the Wikipedia articles it was included in?
Geraldine Edwards, now Geraldine Flemming-Mueller, has publicly stated the reason for her having her Wikipedia Biography taken down as well as having her name redacted from all Wikipedia articles it appeared in is that she felt Wikipedia's entertainment biographies, and their musician biographies in particular were lacking in veracity, credibility, and professionalism, many of them offensive in tone. She made it clear that she did not want to be part of them. Although Geraldine Flemming-Mueller is one of the inspirations for Penny Lane in Almost Famous, was very well known in the 70's for dating famous musicians, and was Robert Palmer's fiancee, she's not interested in the type of shallow publicity that Wikipedia affords. Therefore, she made arrangements with Wikipedia to have her biography taken down which she stated was riddled with inaccuracies and falsehoods, as well as being written in an offensive vein. In addition, she asked to have her name redacted from the biographies of Robert Palmer, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltry, Syd Barrett, Cameron Crowe, Dave Hill, Rick Springfield, Dave Hill and Rod Price.
Wikipedia complied with her request. Problems arose when her name would pop back up on these biographies as soon as they were redacted, so at Geraldine Flemming-Mueller's request, a bot was prepared on her behalf that automatically removes her name from any article that it is included in, which solved the problem. She stated she was grateful for Wikipedia's cooperation on her behalf. She said that she finds their scientific, educational, and professional articles to be commendable and very helpful in their content, and otherwise in general had no fundamental problem with Wikipedia. On a humorous note, as soon as Geraldine Flemming-Mueller had her name permanently removed from Robert Palmer's biography (she was his fiancee before his death) the name of Mary Ambrose was put up on it listing her as Robert Palmer's girlfriend at the time of his death on an invalidated cite by a Wikipedia editor she knew personally. The reason the cite is invalid is due to the fact that it was based on information reported by Mick Carter, Robert Palmer's fired manager. Once it was reported that Mick Carter had been fired by Palmer prior to his death, any and all reports he made to the press were invalidated and not viable as cites for articles or biographies in a legal vernacular. Geraldine Flemming-Mueller has now been married to her husband Anthony Flemming-Mueller since 2006, and is a successful entrepreneur and businessperson who resides in Los Angeles.
