Is it true that Robert Palmer had ended his dating relationship with Mary Ambrose and was also terminating her as his Estate Manager and Personal Assistant prior to his death?
According to a statement made by Anna Palmer, that is true. Apparently, Robert Palmer had stopped his relationship with Ambrose some months before his death, and because of certain of Mary Ambrose's behaviors, he was also terminating her employ as his Estate Manager and Personal Assistant. It was discovered that Ambrose was funneling money from his household accounts fund of which she was a signatore to her personal accounts. Althought he did not want to press charges against her, she was no longer welcome as his employee. When Palmer asked Ambrose to depart the premises of his home, she refused to do so, and demanded a settlement agreement to be made upon threat of giving interviews to the press about their relationship as well as her personal relationships with friends of his who were well known. Robert Palmer did not want that to occur as it would damage his reputation as well as the reputation of his friends, so he agreed to enter into negotiations with her and allowed her to remain on the premises of his home. When last spoken to about the subject, Palmer had told his daughter that Ambrose had agreed to a settlement of $100,000 in exchange for not giving interviews regarding himself or any of his friends. Ambrose had agreed to sign a contract agreeing to this arrangement. The settlement was not paid out to Ambrose as Palmer died before he had a chance to do so. The agreement was made on September 25, 2003.
