I was convicted of felony embezzlement in Ca in 2003. I served 4 months in jail, paid all restitution and finished my probation without incident. I had it reduced to a misdermeanor then expunged. This was my only convition. Can I now vote or obtain a firearm in California or federally?
Answer
You are going to have to be more specific as to what charge. Some misdemeanors in California carry a 10 year ban on the possession of firearms, regardless of expungement.
Answer
Your voting rights are restored after completion of your sentence, but since you were convicted of a felony, you are prohibited from ever possessing firearms or ammunition. Expungement does NOT change that, nothing will.
