Question

I am in Indiana and I received a witness subpoena for a civil proceeding that I have no involvement in, at the isistence of the petitioner. Can I file a claim for travel expenses and lost wages against said petitioner.

Answer

Under Indiana law, you are to receive a witness fee, and if you have to travel from another county, mileage. You can not get lost wages, and it is unlikely that you have been called as a witness with nothing relevant to tell the court.
