I am a new to houston tx (90 days) and i have been offered a job in the medical field(manager). My question is the employer put the "at-will" clause on my new hire letter and wants me to sign it. It states "In accepting our offer of employment, you certify your understanding that your employment will be on an at-will basis, and that neither you nor company representative has entered into a contract reguarding the terms or duration of your employment. As an at-will employee, you will be free to terminate your employment with the company at any time with or without cause or advance notice.Likewise, the company will have the right to reassign you, to change your compensation, or to terminate your employment at any time with or without cause or advance notice." ........So is that correct?

Tex is an at will employment state..but if you were offered a job at $100k a year and fired after a few months...you could sue for the balance...so they are telling u up front ...u don't have a contract for a year...good luck..
