How do Americans entertain?
It depends on the occasion. For dinner, Americans usually have people come over a few hours ahead of time and have appetizers and maybe some wine. This allows for time to chat. Eventually, everyone makes their way to the dinner table and continues their conversations over dinner. There is usually a dessert after dinner, and guests leave once they have had time for their food to digest. Also, background music is good to use because it makes people feel comfortable.
